The Crops & Climate Update!
Update:
So, what’s with the lack of updates? This is due to a number of factors like work taking up my time. These projects are far from the primary source of my income, which is perfectly fine, it just means I don’t have the same amount of time to allocate to.
The goal for 2025 is to allocate more of my time to working on the game so that we can have more updates.
Farming:
It is now possible to plant a variety of different plants. No green thumb needed. All you need to do is find some seeds, plant them and wait. So what can be planted?
Potatoes:
- Gives 1–4 potatoes and 1–3 seeds when harvested.
- Will grow within 4 days, depending on the weather.
Carrots:
- Gives 2–6 carrots and 1–3 seeds when harvested.
- Will grow within 4.5 days, depending on the weather.
Chamomile:
- Gives 1-4 chamomile and 1–2 seeds when harvested.
- Will grow within 5 days, depending on the weather.
Hemp:
- Gives 1-5 cloth and 1–2 seeds when harvested.
- Will grow within 3 days, depending on the weather.
Weather:
This update introduces weather to the game, featuring four distinct types: clear, foggy, rain, and thunderstorms. While primarily visual, these weather conditions also affect gameplay. Rain reduces visibility by 15%, thunderstorms by 25%, and fog by 50%, making it slightly easier to navigate undetected as zombies have a harder time spotting you. However, firing loud weapons will still attract their attention as usual. Additionally, plants grow up to twice as fast during rain or thunderstorms.
Cooking:
With the addition of raw foods comes the need to cook. This can be done by hitting the Craft Key C
next to a lit campfire. Currently, only the Baked Potato and Healing Tea can be made, as there is no way to obtain raw meat (yet).
Sleeping:
Tired of the night? Well now you can sleep it away as long as you are safe. Craft yourself a sleeping bag, and you can now sleep by hitting Z
(default). If your food and water bars are above 80%, sleeping will also restore 25 health. This currently doesn’t have any impact on the growth of plants, but that may change in the future.
Art Update Part 2:
The second part of the art update, where the goal was to update the textures and animations for the player, has been placed on hold. This is something that is planned to be done before leaving early access; however, I believe it’s better to focus on content over graphics.
Fixes & Changes:
- Fixed various tools/weapons being craftable when already obtained
- Fixed various recipes showing as craftable or uncraftable when they shouldn’t
- Slightly increased the zombie spawn timer, fail chance, and distance
- Tweaked the textures for the AK, M4, and M92-S
- Slightly reduced the size of all zombie models
- Updated the help section
- Added a slight variance to the pitch of the swing sound
- Increased the hitbox size of bullets, and reduced the texture size
